shameless plug for an amazing brooklyn photographer based out of greenpoint, robert malmberg, who works with an antique bellows camera to create these collodion prints. the chemical reactions result in inherent flaws in the surface image which only serve to make them more unique, striking and a bit macabre in the process. i think they are simply extraordinary, something a bit sally mann about them, too. distinctly modern and antique simultaneously, i want to schedule an appointment just to watch him work though cringe a bit at the thought of what he may charge; however, the end result is well worth it. local art. all pics from his site and blog. check him out via the link above or find him on flickr and congratulations to him for daily candy sweetest things 2009 win.
