the lovely joanna baum runs multiple shops one of which, sir on atlantic ave in brooklyn, is dangerously close for my wallet. a risd fashion grad, her signature dresses, which are available made to order with custom fitting for an absurdly reasonable price, are simply the most feminine, flattering, graceful i’ve seen in years. lustrous hand-washed silks, intricate lace detailing, flowing bias-cut hems and flattering sashes, simultaneously modern and vintage in feel. fortunately, and with the help of the write-up in last month’s vogue, she shouldn’t be suffering from the downturn in the economy anytime soon. lucky for us. and as i just found out from a dear friend of mine in the market for a wedding dress, she does bridal for a very reasonable price, as well. so, when you want to feel like a lady, or a bride, there’s sir. pics from sir’s site and refinery 29
