one of brooklyn’s best bands, inarguably. tv on the radio is one of the most innovative, progressive, political, intellectual, passionate bands around. and they just kill it live. the one time i got all pink and star-struck was running into tunde over in williamsburg at a restaurant. the young liars ep and desperate youth, blood thirsty babes are both amazing; their music just sounds like nobody else. there’s something about the fury and talent they exhibit on stage that hearkens back a bit to vernon reid and corey glover (living colour), but they’re a lot more varied and narrative when you take the albums on the whole. not just a rock band. staring at the sun, you could be love, young liars, their cover of mr. grieves, i was a lover, province, love dog, golden age, family tree. i cannot pass up any opportunity to see them live. nor should you. go now. my heart’s aflame my body’s strained but god i like it….
