stuart & wright sample sale & jeffrey monteiro

should you find yourself anywhere near ft. greene this weekend, do your closet a favor and head over to stuart & wright on lafayette @ s. portland, across from moe’s & disguised as a dry cleaners.  guys may have more luck actually as the stock seemed predominantly mens shirts, sweaters, pants and outerwear in the front racks and only a few racks of women’s options in the back 1/2 of the store but what there is, is mighty fine.  not much isabel marant or rachel comey (perhaps sold out already) but some great jackets and coats (mercy and others), tunics and dresses from lewis cho, knitwear from alexander wang and vanessa bruno, sweaters from inhabit and a great selection of jeffrey monteiro.  if they had much left in sizes that didn’t start smallest at sz 4, i would have bought a piece from each pattern, at least, instead of leaving empty-handed.  his stints at derek lam and mayle show in his pieces and his assumption at the helm of bill blass plus expansion of his own line this year look promising indeed.  pics from monteiro‘s own site and refinery 29, who has been singing his praises for a while now.  and much luck to him–not that he needs it from the strength of these pieces.
