because it was so difficult to pick just one for my prior post on the fall shows wrap-up, more pictures from peter som’s fall ready-to-wear collection. while i do feel more than a nod to prada–particularly fall 2003–it’s no deal-breaker. this collection is a wonderful solidification of the designer’s pov and will likely introduce him to those who had yet to notice him as a worthy contender. the 40s silhouettes, deep palette and beautiful velvets, feathers & furs, brocades, knits and accessories comprise a fully-fleshed, absolutely beautiful and self-contained collection. while the showing does seem reminiscent to miuccia’s aesthetic, there is also a freshness, wryness and youthfulness to these pieces in the contrasting prints, deliberately skewed sizing and slight messiness. whereas prada is intellectual, sculptural and refined, this peter som collection feels more flirtatious, ironic and bohemian. all photos, style.com
